Storage

A watch should be stored safely in a case, watchbox or in the drawer. Valuable models should be stored in a safe. Also, protect your timepiece from shocks and strong sunlight and light. Do not place your watch on top of refrigerators or speakers, as these devices generate strong magnetic fields and can damage your watch. In general, magnetic fields should be avoided. For mechanical watches, it is recommended to have a complete service (revision) performed every 4 to 6 years.

Adjusting the watch

Mechanical watches with manual winding are to be wound up to the locking point by means of the crown before wearing. Automatic watches require 10-20 turns of the crown. For information on setting the date, please refer to the operating instructions. For automatic watches with additional calendar functions, a watch winder is recommended. This way, even if the watch is worn only from time to time, it will always be wound. It is not necessary to keep wristwatches continuously in motion. It is enough to use the watch winder every few months or to wind the watch every few months. In the case of quartz watches that are stationary, it must be noted that any escaping acid from dead batteries can cause considerable damage to the movement. Therefore, the batteries should be replaced as soon as possible after the standstill.

Cleaning

The watch should be cleaned occasionally with a soft cloth or a dry, soft brush (tip: toothbrush). For waterproof watches, impurities can be removed with a damp cloth. Cleaning agents should not be used, as they can attack the sealing rings of the crown and base. If the glass fogs up from the inside, your watch must be taken to a watchmaker immediately. After swimming in the sea, the watch should be rinsed with clear tap water.

What to do if your watch is defective ? 

  1. Check if the battery of the watch needs to be replaced. The battery of the clock is to be replaced on average after 2-3 years. Our watches contain standard batteries which you can buy in many supermarkets. You can also have the battery changed in a watch store near you. The replacement of the battery is not under warranty. 
  2. Is the battery still in tact or recently replaced and still your watch does not run? Then you can visit the following link: https://www.grovana.ch/en/Customer-service/Service-Center/ to find a Grovana Service Center near you. Please contact the service center by phone to make an appointment and/or note the varying opening hours.
  3. Can't find a service center near you? Feel free to contact us using the contact form. We will take care of your request as soon as possible.

  • We recommend that you contact a professional watchmaker. He knows how to open a watch professionally and replace a battery if necessary. Battery replacement is not included in the warranty.

  • Your watch is protected by Grovana's worldwide 3-year warranty from the date of purchase. You will find the warranty certificate in the watch box. In order to claim warranty service, proof of purchase and the warranty certificate must be presented.
